Connor Bannister | Less but Loud

Less but Loud is a 20-second 3D motion piece that reimagines a minimalist guitar overdrive pedal through the lens of Dieter Rams’ iconic design ethos. Directed, designed, and animated by Connor Bannister, the self-initiated project blends 60s/70s Braun-inspired form with modern Motion Design storytelling. From early sketches to Cinema 4D modeling and After Effects compositing, Bannister focused on tactility, elegance, and refined simplicity. A single dial takes center stage, while screw-in feet and a Rams-style power input become subtle design highlights. The camera lingers on close-ups and layered compositions, giving the product room to breathe. Sound design by William Cart matches the visual restraint—no beats, just crisp haptic textures and an overdriven crescendo. The film resulted is minimalism turned up loud, where every detail is intentional and nothing feels unnecessary.
